Obituary of Juanita Wyckoff

Juanita Wyckoff, known to many as Nita/Needa or Mama Juanita, went home to be with the Lord on February 14, 2024, in Indianapolis, IN, at the age of 75. She was born on November 1, 1948 in Birmingham,Alabama to Gladys and Greenlee Wyckoff. Juanita pursued higher education at Kentucky State University, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in Business. Nita also graduated from the House of Jayne Beauty School. Nita became a licensed cosmetologist. She went on to own her own salon. She traveled the world doing hair shows. Nita even created her own hair products. One of which "Gonnechi" brought her many accolades. Nita also had a great business mind. She was a Computer Operator and Data Entry Specialist for Indiana National Bank for over 2 decades. Nita also worked for Indianapolis Public Schools for many years as a teacher and counselor until her retirement. Nita was a lifelong educator, which for many years she was a chairman with Toastmasters (A group that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs). Nita taught Pastors & other spiritual leaders. Nita held workshops on praise and worship. At times, even speaking at Women's Day retreats. Nita was a mentor to many. Nita always had time to pray with you and for you. Christ was truly the head of her life. Nita was an adamant servant of God. She was inspired by the Holy Spirit and will always remain a source of inspiration for many. Juanita will be deeply missed by her surviving loved ones, including (son) Charles D. Smith, (son) JoNathan X. Smith, and (daughter in law) Cherise Smith. In addition to a host of other relatives, cousins, adopted kids and grandchildren. Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved mother and father, Gladys and Greenlee Wyckoff, brothers Lee and Charlie Wyckoff. Nita's warm presence, kind spirit, and love for the Lord and her family will forever be cherished. To know her was to love her.
