Obituary of Sharon Elizabeth VonDerAhe

Sharon Elizabeth VonDerAhe, 78, of Indianapolis passed away on December 30, 2023. She was born in Indianapolis to John and Ann Patten on November 15, 1945. She graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1963. She earned a degree from the School of Practical Nursing in 1967 and Saint Vincent’s School of Nursing in 1970. Sharon retired from Methodist Hospital after 29 years of employment, later she came out of retirement for a couple of years to help open the women’s unit at Clarian North Hospital. She enjoyed reading books. She loved to travel. Sharon attended many concerts. She really enjoyed the company of the many great friends she met along the way. Sharon was an amazing daughter, sister, mother, aunt, niece, nurse, friend and cousin. She loved her puppies, Smokie, Adolf, Jetta, Sinsi, Mack, Cosmo, Pepper, Victor and Precious. She also loved her cat, Fred. She was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Ann Patten; her son, Christopher VonDerAhe; and aunts and uncles. She is survived by her daughter, Heather VonDerAhe; brother, John M. (Stephanie) Patten; aunts, Kay Walgren and Kathleen Swift; nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial contributions in honor of Sharon can be made to the Indy Humane Society or IU Health Hospice.
