Obituary of Rhonna Renee Phelps

Rhonna Renee Phelps, 58, of Indianapolis passed away on June 14, 2023. Rhonna was born to Patricia Walker on November 15, 1964 in Indianapolis. After graduating from North Central High School in 1982, she immediately attended Indiana State University where she completed two years of college. Rhonna was a Kappa Sweetheart at Indiana State University. She was a Pom-Pom girl at Northview Middle School and a member of the French Club at North Central High School. Rhonna also ran for Miss Black Expo. She was a claims processor for Continental Insurance and a clerk for Indiana Bankruptcy Court. Rhonna was a member of Jones Tabernacle – AME Zion from 1964 until her passing. She enjoyed listening to music, gambling, spending time with friends and family. She liked to dance. She also liked eating, watching the television show Cops, Wheel of Fortune and the news. She loved laughing and being beautiful. Rhonna was preceded in death by her grandmother, Nadine Strong; grandfather, Milton Strong; uncle, Steven Strong; and aunt, Jacqueline Brown. Rhonna is survived by her mother, Patricia Walker; son, Michael Phelps; sister, Patrice Keller; brother, M.Gregg Phelps; brother-in-law, Glenn Keller; nephews, Damon Winston, Greg Merriweather and George Winston III; nieces, Nakia Winston and Tamika Phelps; step-father, Lawrence Walker; and a host of great nieces and nephews, and a great-great niece and nephew. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to an MS (Multiple Sclerosis) or Cancer organization in honor of Rhonna.
