Obituary of Lon Powe V

He Loved and Lived! Lon Powe V was affectionately known as “Lil Chaney” was born May 2, 2001, in Rockford, Illinois to Lon” Big Chaney” Powe IV and Amy Box. The family resided in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lon V was a very spiritual young man. He had a smile that was contagious and a laugh that brought joy to your soul. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in 2019. He was an avid Chess player and a member of his High School’s Chess Team. Lon V loved to draw and he loved music, making others laugh and spending time with his family. He found peace being near the water be it swimming, fishing or kayaking. He would practice his lyrical flow while gardening in his grandmother’s backyard. He also enjoyed playing chess. Lon V enjoyed spending time with Diane “Suga Momma” Powe, his paternal grandmother, and there was nothing in the world he would not do for her. He was a peaceful young man with an old soul. He enjoyed traveling and experiencing different cultures. He also enjoyed teaching his family and friends about the different types of music he enjoyed. He and his siblings would spend all their school breaks at his grandmother’s house. Family was everything to him; he would spend hours playing video with his younger brothers; and he enjoyed spending time watching happy feet with his niece to keep her smiling. Lon V would brag about how she was beautiful and smart. Lon V spent countless hours in the kitchen helping his Auntie Dionne. He loved many of the same things we loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved family and friends and was always willing to help someone in need. Lon V worked at Carrier, where he made several friends. He was so proud that he was working in a Union like his Father and Grandfather. He enjoyed cooking and combining different flavors together. Things that you would never imagine that paired well together. Lon V is survived by his parents Amy Box ad Lon Powe IV; Siblings, Chavier Powe, MyChavion Powe and Chane Powe; Grandmother Diane Powe; Grandfather Thomas Gilmore; Aunts Margo Box and Dionne Powe; Uncles Dewight Smith and Samuel Tennial. Lon V was preceded in death by his Grandmother Avon Box-Gilmore; Grandfather Lee Otis Box; Grandfather, Lon Powe III; and his favorite Auntie Lorri Powe.
