Obituary of Jimmy L. Jolly

Jimmy Lee Jolly, age 75, went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2022. He passed away peacefully with his daughters at his side. Jimmy was born on June 24, 1946 in El Paso, Texas and lived in Oklahoma City most of his life. He was the third of five children. His entire life, he faced challenges with strength, independence and a sense of humor. Jimmy was a truck driver for more than 30 years and later, as an instructor, passed that skill on to new drivers. He had a love for music and shared his eclectic taste with his daughters. His love for knowledge and wisdom came from his father and his stubborness and determination from his mother. Jimmy was proud to have the name Jolly and tried to live up to it. He was quick to tell a joke and those who knew him will always remember his hardy laugh. Jimmy loved his church family at Shields Bouleveard Baptist Church. He was eternally thankful for the Shriners and the J.D. McCarty Center who helped him during some of the most physically challenging days of his life. Jimmy valued his family both close and extended and always tried to keep in touch. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Vernon Leon Jolly and Barbara Anene Foster Jolly, his brother Jerry Don, sisters Barbara and Sandra and daughter Janette. He is survived by his brother Charles Leon "Chuck" Jolly (Mary) of Richardson, Texas, his daughters Jerri Clark and Jo Rhodes of Indianapolis, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Jimmy was a generous man who always made it a priority to contribute to causes that were dear to him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the J.D. McCarty Center. He would have loved that.
