Obituary of William Ross Jr.

William Lee Alfred Ross Jr. was born on February 15, 1958, to William and Mary Margaret (Smith) Ross in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Ross family's final duty station at Travis Air Force base allowed them to settle in the Vallejo, California Country Club "Crest" Community. William graduated from Hogan High School in 1976. William's respect for his guidance counselor, Mr. Ricky Nutt, would be pivotal in a life-changing encounter many years later. William experienced school suspensions; his mother, Mary, assured William his time at home would be utilized to learn how to cook and clean. For those who had the privilege of eating any of William's cooking, Mary Margaret Ross, we thank you. In 1979 William and Wynona Jordan were married and had A'Lea and Alva. Although this marriage ended, Wynona and the entire Jordan family have maintained a familial relationship with William and his family. After a few years of bad choices and consequences, William encountered his former guidance counselor, now Pastor Ricky Nutt. William was offered a spot in the church's Harbor House Rehabilitation program; this is where William's life began to change after he gave his life to the Lord. At Harbor House, William obtained his Class A CDL and later became a truck driver. William and Paula Hickman were united in marriage in 1992. This marriage created an unbreakable bond between William's two daughters and Paula's two sons and added the baby of the bunch, Faith. In 1994, William opted to leave his beloved Vallejo and move to Ohio to assist in caring for the sick family members of his wife. While in Ohio, William left a significant imprint on many hearts. In Akron, William was known for his random acts of kindness, which led to an encounter with Prophetess Juanita Bynum, who launched William and Paula's catering business "Mama's House." William spent many years in Chillicothe, Ohio, and Indianapolis, Indiana, as his health declined. Regardless of his health challenges, William continued to impact others' hearts through his continued random acts of kindness and sharing Jesus Christ. William is preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Mary Ross, and two brothers, Larry Ross and Edward Harris. William is survived by: his wife Paula, his five children, Marshall (Cindistar) Hickman of Tucson, AZ, A'Lea Roper, DeLezli Hickman, and Alva Ross Chillicothe, OH, and Faith Thompson of Indianapolis, IN. Grandchildren, Hunter, Jasmine, Vincent, Treyon, Kaimon, Kendra, Roberta, Demetrius, Ronin, Lyric, Kyrie, Aspyn, Gabriella, three great-grandchildren, and Dwayne Beverly, a bonus grandchild; his sister, Beatrice (Terance) Bass; several nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends throughout the country.
