Obituary of Monique Rasha Hooks

Monique Rasha’ Hooks - INDIANAPOLIS - The Phenom, The Baker, Meal Creator, The Hair Braider, The Great Debater. Monique was a rare gem. Multi-talented she was extremely creative; she could make something out of nothing. Rather it was a meal, a piece of fabric, a wig or some words or doodling on a page. Her talents kept manifesting in creative burst that at first would make you say what and then make you say, Wow! Her mind was sharp and witty but so was her tongue. Monique was born on December 12, 1988, she was the love of her doting mother’s life. It became apparent very early in Monique’s life that she was extremely intelligent. She started talking at just six-months and never stopped. If she was not talking that was a sign that you needed to stop and ask yourself what you did. Monique’s vocabulary was extensive, and her range of knowledge was vast. She spoke 3 languages fluently but studied 6 different languages in all. Monique was a 2008 graduate of Franklin Central High School and Empire Beauty School. She attended Central State University in Wilberforce, OH. Where she studied Pre-Law and recently took up another academic pursuit to be certified as a Pharmaceutical Technician. Monique was an avid reader she loved to read all kinds of books. She had a special fondness for James Patterson Novels and mysteries. Monique loved to travel and see new places. She loved movies especially, crime, mystery, horror movies and documentaries. Very early in life Monique confessed Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and asked to be baptized. Both her and her mother Michelle were baptized on the same day at Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church. At the age of eight-years old while touring with an Inner-City Youth Ministry and Recording Group “The Jesus Gang,” Monique started operating in the prophetic she could interpret dreams as God gave her unction. She preached her first public sermon at the age of thirteen at St. Paul AME Church. Monique stayed and active part of youth ministries until she moved away to college. Monique was true to what she believed. She would often say, I am not perfect, but I am a work in progress.” Monique loved her family and friends. She asserted herself as the alpha grandchild and her younger sisters and cousins would call her a “bully!” Monique loved mostly everybody, but had a low tolerance for what she called, “foolishness,” so she would say, “that they are wearing out my patients and I have to take a break from them.” She had a special place in her heart for children. Especially for Dionna, Draya, London her god-nieces who affectionately called her “Titi-Moe”, as well her god-son Amari. Monique departed this life on Monday, June 28, 2021. Monique would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call with an offer that she could not refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a mansion a reunion with her Granny, family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, seeing new sights and she is no longer scared of heights. On this trip she gets to read to her heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left detailed instructions for her mother (Michelle Hall Treece (Vincent), sister, (Domonique) father (Hal Hall) (Frank Hooks), Pawpaw (Phillip Burris), Aunts (Tonya, Lee, Amanda), Uncles, Host of Cousins, special friends, and all Titi-Moe’s babies to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. Low adherence to this instruction will not be tolerated. REMEMBER ME To the living, I am gone, To the sorrowful, I will never return, To the angry, I was cheated, But to the happy, I am at peace, And to the faithful, I have never left. I cannot speak, but I can listen. I cannot be seen, but I can be heard. So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea, As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity, Remember me. Remember me in your heart: Your thoughts, and your memories, Of the times we loved, The times we cried, The times we fought, The times we laughed. For if you always think of me, I will never have gone. Margaret Mead
