Obituary of Carrie Collins

“One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the Lord and inquire in his temple.” Psalm 27:4 On Sunday May 9, 2021, our Heavenly Father claimed his own: A devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, niece, aunt, confidant and friend. Carrie Collins “momma” as she was affectionately known, quietly left this world of sorrow, sin and pain to be with her father who promised her a mansion. (John 14: 2-4) Mother Collins was born on April 18,1935 to Mr Ernest and Mrs Luetta Barnett I’m Hodgenville Ky. Both parents proceeded her in death. Accepting Christ at an early age, she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and there she began her work for God by using her voice in the Quartet Arena as a member of the group “Sacred Four” where she traveled the world doing God’s work! She later married James Collins in 1954 at the age of 17 and moved to Chicago IL. This union was blessed with five children.. James Jr, Michael and Kenneth whom all proceeded her in death. Mother Collins continued her Christian Journey and later formed a Quartet group called the “Faithful Ones” in memory of her late husband. She worked for 30+ years as a professional cook Employeed with a company called Admiral at the lake on the north side of Chicago. After retiring, momma returned home to Indianapolis Indiana. Momma Collins being a God-fearing woman, devoted herself unconditionally to her church. She was a Faithful Servant. Momma also had an unconditional love for her family. She was known for being a Jazzy, very classy and very funny lady. One of her favorite slogans was “Get somewhere and sat down”! And don’t tell her how sharp she was dressed because her response was always “I Know” but, thank you baby. She will truly be missed.
