She was born on August 29, 1934 in Indianapolis. Vivian met Valentino (Val) Avalos Dominquez on July 4, 1955, and they were married just over three months later, on October 7, 1955, by Reverend H.T Tolliver, Pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church. They thereafter repeated their wedding vows before Reverend Joseph Riedman at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Val and Vivian celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. Thereafter, after a short illness, Val passed away on July 25, 2006. In addition to losing her husband and best friend of more than 50 years, on May 18, 2018, Vivian unfortunately and unexpectedly lost her only daughter, Linda Christina King. Vivian loved Linda’s vibrant personality, exuberant spirit, and classic sense of style. Vivian retired on August 31, 1989, from the Department of Defense, United States Army Finance and Accounting Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison following 37 years of loyal service. During her career, she received numerous citations, letters of appreciation and awards for her outstanding performance and selfless dedication to duty. Vivian cherished her role as a military retired pay fiduciary clerk. She eagerly looked forward to addressing the financial needs of all retired military personnel and their families and she would often come home to tell her family about the numerous people in need who she had assisted. Her military chain of command respected Vivian’s hearty work ethic, tenacious research skills and overall attention to detail. With Vivian, family always came first. As an extremely devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she always put the needs and desires of her family miles and miles in front of her own. Vivian also made it a point to make the friends and associates of her family members feel most welcome in her home. Those who knew Vivian well will miss but fondly remember her wonderful sense of humor, the warmth of her smile and the quality of her hugs and kisses. In addition to Val and Linda Christina, Vivian was preceded in death by her grandparents Perry and Mollie Parker Jackson, father Larry Saunders, mother Helen M. Jackson, sister Betty J. Jackson, brother John M. Jackson; and aunts Pauline Hines, Elizabeth Chumley, Irene Jackson, Louise Pierce and Lucille Higgins. Vivian is survived by her brother Charles E. Jackson; children, Eric E. Dominguez, Salvador A. (Annette) Dominguez, Raymond R. (Michaela) Dominguez; grandchildren Brian L. Dominguez, Shawn P. Woolfolk, Tanika Dominguez-Pieper , Shavon Woolfolk, Shauna Dominguez, Janai A. Lawson, Cory P. King, Destiny A. Dominguez, Olivia N. Dominguez, Naomi V. Dominguez, Raquel S. Dominguez, Justus A. Dominguez and Isaiah V. Dominguez; great grandchildren, Jazmine Pieper, Joshua Pieper, Eric Pieper, Kyara Pieper, Theo Woolfolk, Ava King and Nicholas Lawson, Jr. Special persons Val and Vivian loved and considered an extension of their family are sisters-in-law Gloria Dominguez and Josephine Rodriguez as well as Samuel James Mays and Christina Eaglin.
