Obituary of Sylvia D. Williams

Sylvia Doris Mury Thomas Williams the only child of Johnnie P. Carter Mury and Swanson Mury was born on June 3rd, 1928 in Franklin, Tennessee. She was sent to Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 6 years following the death of both parents. She went to live with a loving Aunt Mary Burnett and family where she attended IPS School #63. She graduated from Crispus Attacks High School in the year of 1945. She later attended 3 years at Butler University. She later started working in domestic housekeeping where she later went to work for Western Electric until retiring. Not being one for sitting still, she went to work in the Warren Township School System and later worked for Kroger where she finally truly retired. She married Aaron Thomas Jr. on September 2, 1950 and to this union 3 children were born. Later divorcing Mr. Thomas, she birthed 2 more children. She later married Mr. James Williams. She joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she joined the choir and worked on the Usher Board. Her church and family were her greatest love. She devoted her life to her children and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved flowers and cross word puzzles. Mrs. Sylvia Doris Mury Thomas Williams departed this life on Thursday, January 6, 2021 while a patient at Eskenazi Hospital at the age of 92 years. She leaves to cherish her memory Daughter: Patricia E. Phillips Sons: Aaron Thomas III (Fornia), Stevie M. Bonds (Brenda) and Timothy Thomas, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of cousins, relatives and church family.
