Obituary of Karen Petty

Karen Denise Petty, 67, of Indianapolis, IN passed away december 14, 2020. Karen was born in Indianapolis, on August 18, 1953, to the late Charles and Rosemary Rice. Karen attended both Tech and Crispus Attucks High School. Karen was a hard worker and was appreciated by many of her co-workers at Polymer Technology, where she worked for over 15 years. Karen is survived by her loving husband of over 30 years: Rudolph Petty: daughter Nicole Beckwith: Son, Ricky Petty and his wife Christina Petty: grandchildren, Seantrel Cabil, Kaitlyn, Kayla, Kylee and Kyra Petty;her siblings, Charles (Nolan) Rice,Sharon Croom, Charles D. Rice, Cheryl Rainey, Nate Rice, Diane Rice, Pierre Rice and Pam Rice. Karen is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Rosemary Rice: and her siblings, Sheila (Baxter) Hamilton, Charleszetta Beasley, Sterlin, Daryl, Terri and Antonio Rice. Karen is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Karen enjoyed shopping, dancing, playing card games such as tonk, and more than anything, spending time with her grandchildren. One of her favorite songs was "Dance with my father" by Luther Vandross. Karen was small but oh so mighty. Her love was unconditional and spoke louder than words. Thank you to all of our family and friends that have reached out via calls, texts, and visitations during the passing of our beloved mother, sister, wife, aunt and friend. Thank you for all of the stories and memories shared. words cannot express our gratitude for the love and sympathathies our family has received. we find comfort in knowing that our mother is no longer suffering. we are reminded of the scripture 2 Corin, 5:8; to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord. Due to covid-19 concerns and the importance of ensuring everyone stays in good health, a celebration of life ceremony will take place late spring. early summer 2021
