Life of Lawrence Douglas Edwards (Popeye), 62, of Evansville, IN, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 20, 2020, at the VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. He was born September 6, 1957, in Evansville IN to Rhoda B (Outlaw) Edwards and the late Herbert A. Edwards. He was the youngest of 7 children. Lawrence attended grade school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Evansville, IN. He graduated from Bosse High School in Evansville, IN, with the “Class of 1975”. He then attended college at Vincennes University in Vincennes, IN. He then joined the United States Navy. He was a Nuclear Reactor Operator. Lawrence was employed at Emerson Appliance Controls in Frankfort, IN for over 29 years. In October 2013, he received an award for his invention. He designed a Lube Cup in front of the timer motor boss to prevent noisy motors in Delta timers. He loved electronics. Lawrence as a kid was a Math Whiz. He loved to take stuff apart and then put it back together. He was a big football fan of the “Indianapolis Colts”. He loved to wear his Indianapolis Colts tee shirt during the football games. He loved music, was a big fan of Michael Jackson and of course had a wide collection of music especially Old School Jams. Lawrence had a passion for projects that involved landscaping. He built a beautiful pond in his back yard. He loved to cook on the grill. He loved fishing and taking pictures with his professional camera. He was a good provider and loved his family, children and grandchildren very much. Lawrence was preceded in death by his brother, Martin D. Edwards. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 13 years, Rhonda (Smith) Edwards; children, Lawrence (LaSandra) Edwards Jr., of California, Anna M. Harper of South Carolina and Adrienne D. Edwards of Indianapolis, IN; step-children, Dawnyele Weldon, Jheri Smith and William Smith; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a step great-grandchild; mother, Rhoda B. (Outlaw) Edwards; sister, Christine (James) Edwards-Murray, brothers, Michael (Barbara) H C Edwards, William L. (Gwendolyn) Edwards, Christopher S. (Pamela) Edwards and Thomas P. (Miriam) Edwards; four Aunts, three Uncles, and a host of Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. A Memorial Service will be at a later date - In Lieu of flowers please donate to a food bank.
