Obituary of Violet Trice Smith

We are here today to celebrate the life of Ms. Violet Trice Smith, the daughter of the late Abraham Trice and Lillie Mae Benson White. Violet was born May 9, 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Violet received her primary and secondary education in the Indianapolis Public Schools. Violet began her work career at Howard Johnson, later her career path was embraced for the talent she welcomed as a self-employed interior decorator before health concerns caused her to retire early. Violet accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized as a child. Violet was united in Holy Matrimony to Larry Smith. Years later she divorced, and shared the remainder of her life with special companion Victor Offutt. Violet's Love of Life revolved around her Children, Grandchildren, and Family members. One of her favorite past times was cooking for the family especially on Sundays, and Holidays. She really enjoyed fishing, playing "Dad", her music, and making the best out of any situation. "Bunny", as she was often called was one of the family's matriarchs. She will be sincerely missed. Violet Trice Smith departed this life on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the age of 61. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Maxine Simmons, and Rosa Shields; and brother, Albert Daniels. Violet leaves to cherish her memory: sons, John (Harolyn) Trice, Jermaine Smith, Courtney Smith, and Sean Davis; daughter, LaPorsha Smith; 13 grandchildren, Jamia Trice, Tylee'ya Trice, Kamon Johnson, Daniel Smith, Tylecia Johnson, Tiera Smith, Jasmin Smith, Wayde Smith, Camron Smith, Desmon Smith, Amorea Smith, Jabrila Smith, and Eboni Bowan; sisters, Anna Mae King, Alberta Daniels, Sandra (John Sr.) Young, Mildred Batey, and Samella (Tommy) Walker; brothers, Harry Davis, Billie (Kim) Batey, Willie Batey, and Mark Batey; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
