Obituary of Mary A. Whitley

Mary Alice Stone Whitley was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 28, 1931 to T. K. and Willie Nancy Moore Stone. Mary Alice was educated in the Indianapolis Public School System. Mary Alice worked @ Progress Laundry Co. as a Presser and in1965, Mary Alice began working at St. Francis Hospital as a Dietician where she retirement from in 1986 Reared in the Church of God in Christ under the instructions of the late mother, Mother Willie Nancy Stone and the late Superintendent George Hall. Mary Alice accepted Christ at an early age in her life at Hall's Temple Church of God in Christ. Mother Mary Alice was an active church member serving in several positions through the years. Some of her responsibilities included: Pastor's Aide, Mother's Board, Evangelist Missionary and most rewarding roles, Mother Mary Alice was "Big Sister Sunshine." Mother Mary Alice, married 39 years to Raymond Whitley Sr. on May 27, 1946. He preceded her in death in September 1985. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Georgia Hodges, Willie Mae Franklin, Marian Odessa Macklin and brothers, Donald Stone Sr., Elder Wallace Stone Sr. and Elder Joe Stone. Mother Mary Alice leaves to cherish her memories five children: Ramona Jewell (Robert) Davidson, of Indianapolis, Raynatte (Carl Sr.) Harris of St. Mary's Georgia, Allena Denise Whitley of Indianapolis, Raymond Whitley Jr. Oklahoma City, Roxanne Verna (Henry) Anderson of Indianapolis. Brother Elder Thomas (Carolyn) Stone Sr. of Indianapolis, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grand children, 2 great-great-grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
